Just finished a deadlined project at work (Is that grammatically correct?) and I feel quite accomplished. More reporting to do in class next week so I’ve decided to do that later when I get home. Kinda weird to head home straight on a Friday, but things need to be done.
The weather (which used to be a boring topic) has been very unstable lately. Climate change is here and with all the things that we are doing to the Earth, the Earth is beginning to get back at us. It was horribly hot this morning, like it was summer but now, during the past hour, the weather just changed and I can see rain pouring in with strong winds. Without an umbrella with me, I expect to go home looking I was in a wet T-shirt contest. It’s not gonna be nice. The bus stop is like a 3 minute walk from my main office and really in this weather, by the time I get there, even my underwear is gonna be wet. (That didn’t sound right, did it?)
Milling season is here. That translates into the obnoxious sound of the factory running everyday (it’s like a thousand bees, buzzing endlessly in your ear) and into work on Saturdays, which kinda sucks. But never mind, I love my job so I’m here. The sickly sweet smell of molasses doesn’t bother me anyway. And I really can’t hear the factory running when I’m inside the office. However, this crazy weather is gonna do a lot of damage to the sugar industry, my job included. I’m expecting low yields.
You think I can get this done today?
I’m writing this from work trying out the WeRoam service of PLDT and I have to say it sucks. Just this morning it took us 4 hours to connect to the internet. Unbelievable! Also once you are able to connect (finally!) you get cut off all of a sudden. What’s up with that? The scary part is that if you get disconnected while logged on to your email account, anyone can just read your email (when they’re connected to the net) coz you haven’t logged out.
By the way, I’m typing this in the laptop of one of the Department Heads who went to Hawaii. Sweet! hehehe I get to use it.
I know, I know it’s been a long time. Haven’t had the time, I swear. Let’s see, I quit my job at the school and now employed in a mill. I have to say I’m liking this job. Not only is the compensation good, the people are also very nice. The only down side to all this is having to work in the middle of nowhere. I work in a freaking farmland, which I must say, I never dreamed of. hehe I find myself at odd moments wanting to get a cab and realizing that it’s impossible to. I detest having to walk in mud all the time and not being able to get a frappo or a burger whenever I want to because the nearest “city” is 45 mins away (including the time you waste waiting for the jeepney to get filled in). It’s weird having to adjust to these little things and realizing that I am and always will be a city girl. I like my malls, my taxi cabs, my cable tv, my cemented streets and what not. I need time to adjust to it bt it’s not a big problem. I find that farm people are actually nicer than city people, although they tend to stare at you more. hehe It’s weird because it’s like having to live between two different worlds but it’s fun too. It’s a good experience for me.
